From Snapshots to Photographs

In this class we will explore how to make the transition from snapping pictures to taking beautiful photographs. The class will cover tips on how to better approach your subject matter by observing lighting, framing, angle, focus, perspective, etc. We will alternate tips and demonstration with shooting time and discussions about visual style and personal expression. The emphasis will be on removing creative roadblocks, highlighting your unique point of view, and inspiring you to develop your talent and style further. The goal is to come out of this class with a small body of images that you're happy with, because they reflect what you saw just as you intended to capture it. This class welcomes all levels of experience. All you need is a camera, a curious eye, and the desire to take your photography to the next level.

About Alessandra

ALESSANDRA CAVE

Alessandra Cave thought all she needed was a camera and a backpack, until her round the world travels revealed a fierce love for texture, light and design, as old as the stories she once called home. One and a half careers later, she's finally traded in her passport for photo studios and locations where her eye for sun-drenched color and vintage beauty takes commercial photography to a whole new world. Whether she's shooting starlets or musing on her beloved moon, Alessandra is serious about living life to the fullest and inspiring others to do the same.

Alessandra holds a Masters in Fine Arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design and she worked for over 10 years as a visual effects producer for feature films and commercials. With her multifaceted background, visionary spirit and keen eye for imagery and beauty, Alessandra is passionate about creating a body of work that is compelling, personal and timeless. Her images have appeared in international online and printed publications, she is a regular contributor to Shutter Sisters, an inspiring community of women photographers, and she is also the creator of the Gypsy Girls Guide, an online resource for women who enjoy travel and a bohemian lifestyle.

When Alessandra is not shooting an exciting photo assignment, she most likely can be found relaxing at home in Brazil, exploring an exotic location around the world or roaming the foggy streets of San Francisco with her camera.
